Live 4.1.4 "Source 0 not delivering a usable clock..."

in essence, if I leave live open ling enough, whether I am doing anything or not, sooner or later it seems I get an error message saying something like "the source 0 is not delivering a usable clock signal. Audio will be disabled, and Ableton Live will now crash." or something to that effect. Afterwards i am told to save my session under a new name and about half the time the file is trashed and un-usable when I go to open it back up... This is totally killing my productivity.

PC system, 2.6 GHz AMD2600+, Win XP Pro sp2, 512MB RAM, Live 4.1.4, Sound card is a Hoontech / STAudio "C-port" DSP2000 ... running ASIO (WDM) drivers, driver v7.2...

Any ideas? I'm inclined to blame the soundcard, which seems not to have new drivers being written for it anymore... this is lame, it was a reasonably expensive 8-in 10-out rackmounted audio interface with decent convertors and I don't want to have to replace it... but what could be causing this horrible behavior?

thanks for any help/experience...

_Amos

If I am doing something wrong in posting here or not providing enough info, please let me know.

If someone is reading this and thinks its an OK question with appropriate info, but simply doesn't know the answer, please post "I don't know" or something...

anything to let me know that I'm not shouting into the void...

has anyone else EVER had Ableton Live's audio spontaniously disable due the an "unusable clock source?" If so, can you provide any info about what, if anything, helped the situation?

Thanks,
