Rewier Live to ProTools - how to send MIDI from PT?

I've got Live rewired to protools and now want to set up a midi track in ProTools to play a MIDI track in Live. How do I do this?

If I can't do that, how can PT change scenes? Launch clips? Can it only start and stop Live. That would be horendously lame. Live is getting to be a pretty good composition tool, but it really needs to have a decent ability to get the music out to a true DAW.

try using midiyoke to make a virtual midi port which pro tools can send to live without having to worry about anything else..

Even if I MIDI-Yoked it, would that allow me launch clips, etc?

With ReWire you shouldn't need MIDIyoke or anything else to run Live and PT together.

Assuming that PT is the ReWire master and Live is the slave, when you make a new MIDI track in PT, you should be able to set the output to Live and choose the instrument you want to play from there.

I don't think PT is able to launch scenes/clips in session view, only from arrangement view.

Hope this helps.

What you are describing is the way an app like Reason works. And I agree, it is what I expected to see. But in the MIDI out selection in ProTools, Live, nor any of its tracks, clips, instruments - is not listed.

Are you saying this works for you?

Are you also saying that it could somehow matter what view live is in - arrangement or session. That's seems odd, i'll try it though.
