Disengaging loop during record causes problems recording?

is this right? i never saw such a thing in the manual....

here's the deal. i am recording to a set that has quite a bit recorded to it already (its a mix so its pretty long). for the most part, i warp a clip and then set it to loop mode for the first 2-8 bars. after i fade the two clips together or somewhere around there, i disengage loop mode and i'm all set.

i recorded about 90 minutes of a set, saved it and came back to it later (closed and restarted Live in the meantime). i set it to record mode, start playing where i want to start overriding the set with new additional music and activate the next clip and the loop runs as normal. i can see it recording in arrangement mode.

after i complete the fade and disengage loop mode, the recording stops.

i am finding that it doesn't necessarily stop right when i disengage the loop button either. sometimes the music will continue for a few bars before it fades out (yes, it has a tail and just sounds like someone disengaged the music... but don't look at me!).

i have tried launching them without the loop disengage idea and it was fine. i want to reiterate this is just when recording in a set that i've already recorded part of.

i can send the als if required.

oh and i had the audio breakup happen again too... its been a bad week for me and ableton. i can't wait to see what happens during the show tonight. weeeee

i should note that the sound KEEPS PLAYING in session view even though it has stopped recording in Arrangement view.

i have worked around it by option-copying the clip the the blank area above, setting it to loop, and then activating the clip below when i'm ready. it works... but this issue has me a bit perplexed.
