I love my BX5's ... a little on the bassy side but that's why I have ears :)

I love my BX-5as! I was using BX-8s for my main monitors, and got a pair of BX-5as for rear surround. I was so impressed with the BX-5as that I now use them for my main monitors, and the BX-8s are for sale (offers - PM me).

The RCF rear powered PA speakers I use are so hi-fi that I'm using them for rear surround studio prep.

I actually have both. Although I guess Tannoy has a newer line of Reveals including a 5" that might be nice .
These monitors could not be more different. The Reveals are a lot less "showy" or flattering. The BX5's are all midrange. I switch back and forth to get a middle ground. If you go with the BX5's do mess with the switches in the back they can tailor the sound quite a lot...I guess whatever you mix/record on, always check the results by going to varying sources- Boombox, car stereo, i-pod, etc...anyway good luck with your choice...

I own Reveal Active monitors and find them truthful for everything except very low freqs (under 70Hz) where they lack bass (but I guess every small woofer has the same problem... ) and slightly exaggerate around 100Hz (but this could be my room's acoustic).
Now I know them so I can compensate pretty well those issues but in the past I made some bassy mixes... now I corrected them.
Keep in mind every monitors have pros and cons. I just have to know them to compensate. Or buy Genelec's top of the range!!
The listening is not fatiguing and you can really analyze you mixes. When listening to Radiohead or Bjork songs on them you realize those are really well produced mixes!

I just posted this in the subwoofer thread then saw this one.....

a friend has some active tannoy monitors (cant remember model) and as soon as he got them his mixes turned to gold with not a single bottom end problem - and that was just those and nothing else - I was absolutely amazed at the difference - I listen on my NS10s with the added [JVC home cinema] sub and it sounds spot on.
