Reason in the loop

very cool to find out that the noise which was added when recording Reason into Live is fixed. only looping still doesn't work: the first beat is not sounding okay when looping a part in Reason. can this be fixed? is it still a high 'very nice to have' on the programmers' list?

you're doing a great job, Live is fun!

I talked to the props and the abletons at the musikmesse and both know about this bug. (skipping first beat). It is known since 1.5.
The person from reason thinks it is a ableton bug and the person from ableton thinks it is a bugy rewire protocol.
The sales of both companies work together fine, promoting live+reason.
I just can't imagine why some obviously very able developers from this companies can't get this sorted out in a conference-call or even by email.

shall we open the conference-call?

yes, it's strange if both parties are blaiming the other one. one thing I know: Sonar and CubaseSX play Reason loops perfectly, so I am almost 100% sure that it's something Ableton can solve.

indeed: Live and Reason are sold as golden team... we'll at the moment they are, but this little bug is still very annoying for me. I am doing lots of looped stuff for TV and the Web and then it's very annoying when... well you know.

fingers crossed ;-)

I agree. This problem has been raised on a number of occasions and it is ridiculous that it has still not been fixed yet. It is a fundamental feature of the programs.

Hi, all.

First I have to say that this problem is *our* problem, not Propellerheads. This was just a wrong information, if somebody of ableton said, that it is because of the buggy ReWire protocoll. Sorry for that, but it is sometimes difficult to hold all people in the company up to date on all informations.

Second, you are right that it is very bad, that we haven't fixed this bug, since we know it that long. The only excuse I could give you is that the ReWire implementation is my part and the programming jobs I have to do tend to loose against helping to coordinate the development and helping others to make their programming jobs and fixing their bugs and so I forgot to fix this bug in the meanwhile.

But all this will not help you. So I will try to fix this bug soon.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Regards, Bernd.

Thank you very much.

I still feel that Live and Reason are a beautiful pairing, and I use them together regularly, so I will even be more so pleased when this matter is put to rest, and we can loop loopy! Thanks for the response Bernd!

thanks

Bernd, thanks for the infomation and honesty. It should only be a few more days until I receive my Live, so it's good to know that this will hopefully be fixed soon.

Loop LoopY!

Not sure if anyone noticed or cares. But that problem does not exist when using the matrix sequencer in Reason. Still a bummer cause you got to sequence everything from the matrix. But it may be a temp. work around untill it is fixed. Hope that helps!

I still have the problem when using the matrix. Maybe you meant that when you use the matrix or redrum without using Reason's sequencer, then you don't have to use looping? If that's what you meant, then that's true, but I really need looping since I prefer to play tracks in realtime into Reason's sequencer.

Is this one going to be fixed in the next update?

Hi Agnishvatta,

it will be fixed within the next update but I cannot yet provide a special date for that.

Alex

Thanks Alex. Just knowing the fix will be included is slightly satisfying.

You could also just export as a loop from Reason and then import the loop in Live. However, this is not a possibility when Reason is in Rewire mode.
