m-audio audio buddy

to use that, i'd need a soundcard that has digital in, right? like my soundblaster, it has digital in, would this work? trying to help a friend and get him to use amplitube the cheapest way. hehe.

Hi Benoski,

I would suggest trying something else. Using Amplitube you will want really low latency and the soundblaster may not be able to offer low enough latency. If you do not have low latency your friend will play the guitar and hear it late... Not much fun for playing an instrument.

Perhaps others can offer suggestions for inexpensive audio interfaces that can deliver low latency...

No, the Audio Buddy isn't digital, it's an analogue pre-amp that boosts low level signals such as from a mic. You would therefore connect it to the analogue ins on a soundcard. I used to have one, it's a good budget solution as it also provides phantom power for mics that need it.
