noob question : softsynth & live?

sorry if this is obvious... but can i play a softsynth like Absynth while Live is playing? i want Live for rhythms & things (like a complex drum machine) & use Absynth to create sounds (live) while Live (the Programme) keeps Absynth in time.

On the mac you can use Max/MSP runtime output to Rewire and uglyVSTi
free apps to do this. Start Max first, then uglyVST, load absynth, start Live.
There is a post somewhere on this forum with more details which alas I can't find now. I also posted the details on absynth-users yahoo group (user demaris99) if you want to search there. If your platform is PC I don't know.

I should point out that MIDI comes direct to the softsynth before going into Ableton, so you don't get any timing quantization that way. Maybe there is a way to send midi out from Ableton via IAC, I haven't tried it.

Demaris! Where have you been? I'm not familiar with MSP runtime...where would I get that? I've got ugly vsti...but I didn't you know you need something else to get the sound into live!

do a search with this -VST INTRUSMENTS IN LIVE!!!! -which will tell you
how and were to get them. p.s remember to spell instruments as above or the search may not give the right results.
