auto arm-track or common key command for it?

alright, well that heading was a tad awkward, but moving on...

what i'm wondering is, is there a preference for a midi track to be automatically armed when it is selected? i believe most daws function this way, at least in logic i know its armed as soon as the track is selected, and i'm just very used to it. otherwise is there a common key command to arm the selected track? ie. without having to assign each individual arm button? this is also something i'm very used, and it seems fiddly without it.
(can't find anything about it in the manual)

thanks

boink..er..bump..

No universal "arm-track" key command for selected track? no preference for a track to automatically be armed on selection?

i guess i'm just waiting for a firm NO for closure.

thanks,

grb

Hi,

As far as I know, the answer is no, there is no automatic record arming on selecting a track. Sorry ! I could be wrong though.

no there isn't , but check out kid beyonds video on the artists page , he uses a combination of footpedals and a midi to keyboard converter to get the same result

thanks guys, i guess i'll just assign a bunch of keys to the arm button of a bunch of tracks in my default song. oh well.

i really think live should have a global key command for arm track though. It's pretty common that you arm the track that you have selected.
and a midi track should really just arm itself when it's selected too. maybe i'm just used to logic, i dunno.

cheers,

Hi, I just upgraded to Live 7.07 and when looking at the Tutorial lessons on 'Whats New in Live 7' it mentions one of the features that when adding midi tracks, Live will automatically record arm the track. well I've been working on another track and have over 10 midi tracks going on and none of them auto armed.....so it would seem that Ableton never implemented this or there may be some vodoo keyboard combination that is not on any documentation...Maybe Ableton can shed some light on this feature? :?

this was working during the beta, I remember thinking it was a bug but it's a feature. it's when you CREATE a midi track that it's default state is armed.

just tried 7.01 and 7.02.

nothing in the preferences.

unless I'm wrong...

The auto-arm-new-tracks feature works if you switch on "exclusive arm".

I think …

Let me check …

YES, it does.

live will auto rec enable midi tracks, as long as exclusive>arm is highlighted in rec warp launch tab in pref. you just have to command/ctrl click additional tracks, if you want them rec enabled ass well.

i too, was curious, emailed support the other day regarding 7.0.7, and how i can't midi map clips, or turn devices, tracks, or racks on/off with midi commands. figured i'd ask about the auto rec enable ass well. it works. midi mapping doesn't. back to 7.0.2...
