Hello,

I have serious latency problems when I am recording my external synth which I controlled via a midi track from live. How can I change this or is this due to my midi dirvers?

I have set up the overall latency, and it works now correctly. When i am recording my external drum machines, which is synced from Live with the right time-adjustment, it works fine too. But when it comes to record my other synths which are not synced but just triggered via midi they are recorded late. I tried to change the midi sync timiming option but that seems just to change anything when it is about midi clock. Then I adjusted the track delay - but this puts off the timing of the midi sync with my drum machine, and the synth line could still not be recorded in time. Very strange behaviour of the track delay!

So any ideas? And can someone explain the function of the track delay setting?

ich habe Probleme meine externen Synths zeitgerecht aufzunehmen. Die werden immer etwas später aufgenommen. Die 'overall latency' habe ich eingestellt, und funktioniert bestens. Eine externe Drummachine läuft in Sync mit, und ebenfalls im richtigen Takt, und es gibt auch keine Verschiebungen, wenn ich das Gerät aufnehme. Aber eben wenn es an die externen Synthies geht. Ich habe versucht die Midi-Sync-Zeit-Einstellungen anzupassen, das brachte aber keine Veränderung (weil es sich wohl nur auf die Midi-Clock bezieht) und die Einstellungen im Track Delay haben auch nichts gebracht. Bei letzerem wurde stattdessen die Midi-Sync-Ausgabe zeitlich verändert, so dass die Drummachine plötzlich aus dem Ruder lief. Komisches Verhalten!
HAt jemand eine Idee, dass zu beheben und kann mir eventuell auch die Funktionsweise der Track Delay Einstellungen erläutern?

Be sure not to create a midi feedback loop on your midi track. Don't select the same midi input and output on the track or the track delay won't work properly. I couldn't get the track delay to work properly and the abes told me to avoid this. Fixed it right up.

It's best to keep it simple and just select "no input" on the track when sending midi clips to an external midi instrument.

Thanks for the hint. But it is still not working. When I set the track delay on the specific midi channel to a positive value the synced drum machine is in time (also when recording) but the midi synth is recorded even later - what it is supposed to do. So this part of the track works somehow. But when I set the track delay to a negative value because I want the external synth to play earlier, live moves the whole track somehow - at least the synced drum machine is playing earlier but the synth is plaqying to the same point in time as if there would be no track delay. So the whole track with the external gear may be now timingly correct when you listen to it but it makes no sense to record on the fly: the drum machine would be recorded earlier and the synth is recorded with the same offset.

So it is quite easy - for everyone with a similar problem: I had to set the monitor of the recording audio channel to off, so it is in time.

So - it is not the midi channel which is introducing latency but the recording audio channel?!
