MACKIE Universal Control is the same as emagic Logic Contr.

Pleae Help!
I want to buy a MACKIE emagic Logic Control from ebay to control my ableton, but now I see that there a different controlers from Mackie.
The MAckie emagic Logic Control and the Mackie Univesal Control !
Is the Mackie emagic Logic Control also useable as the Mackie Universal Control?

No, they are not the same.... almost, but not quite (in the most important of ways).

Logic Control is specific to Logic... Last I inquired on the topic, I was told the Logic Control looks for Logic in order to work... it won't work with other apps.

Mackie Control Universal is "open" to all apps supporting the Mackie Control Protocol (MCP), such as Live....... I'm not sure it will actually work with Logic...

I have an MCP compatible control surface (the Yamaha 01X)... when I want to use Live, I set it to Cubase Mode, because that's the 'Universal' emulation (I think)...

If you want a Mackie Controller for Live, you'll need the Universal model.

I believe there is a simple firmware update on the Mackie site to convert Logic Control to Universal.

Yes there is an upate on the Mackie Site!
You can upgrade you emagic Logic Controler to a Universal controler.
But thx for your help!

nice one! I know a couple of people who would love to 'convert' their Logic Controls....

It also looks like 'upgrading' to the Universal will allow you to use the unit with Logic...
