LIVE is DEAD

A few days ago Live 5.01 crashed when I tried to load a DSP effect from my E-mu 1616 soundcard.
Live crashed, and so did Windows, and on reboot I couldn’t run Live.
I get the message “ a serious problem has occurred………….. try to save your work under a different name….”
The problem is however, that I can’t run Live at all after this chrash!!! It starts loading the app, scans the vst folder, and does the whole normal loading routine, only very slow, and then – NOTHING.

The program just doesn’t load – there are no processes from Live in the task manager, and I can do the whole thing again with the same result.

I tried running an update, as I was still on 5.01 – no luck
I uninstalled Live, reinstalled it – no luck
I tried running Live without the E-mu running – no luck
There are no apparent worms, bots or viruses on my studio computer which is not connected to the internet.

I’m fresh out of brilliant ideas – and the worst part is
I HAVE A RELEASEPARTY for my new album on Saturday, and I am supposed to play live on LIVE.

Please HELP me I’m desperate

first try emptying your vst folder and see if live boots up that way , if it does move back your plugins back to the folder until you can find the one that is crashing . . .

if that doesnt work try trashing your preference file . . .

PROBLEM FIXED

ey yo check this out:

http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 747#191747

this is what s written inside: i think this will help ya, caus i had the same error message:
very usefull tip:

it happened twice on my system that live showed strange startup problems.
the problem was it didint even start up
my machine is not connected tto the net and its just deedicated to produce. therefor i handle it carefully. nevertheless the live5.exe was corrupted.
i think this happened during a session and was caused by the exe itself and not by external progs.
well after the first mysteriouse crash (i tried to reopen live (5.01) many times without getting it run) i reinstalled live after rescuing my presets and stuff. well, reinstalled it and here comes what this post is all about:

i packed the live executabel (in the program folder) into a rar file (protected mode).
well aftersome time this mysterious live fugg up error occured a second time.
i tried to open live many times and it showed me its cold shoulder.
i extractet the live exe and replaced the fucked uup one.
all worked fine again.
saved me much time

if you want to doyourself a favour. archivate the aplication exe as well, even if you havent have my error.
you never know.

is live a bitch?
