I want to record patterns from my yamaha rm1x into ableton and then sequence all these wavs in live
is that easy to do? to get all these patterns the same length so they loop properly and are in the same beat. obviously the bpm of all these patterns will be the same but i'm wondering if they will all sync together

yeah, the rm1x is great for writing out sketches but the sequencing is pretty much like, all these loops play, switch to the next section: these loops play next.... i know i could probably do more complex sequencing if i really wanted to ( if i learnt the manual inside out and if i put a lot of blood sweat and tears into it , but it's not werth it) but this way of arranging and sequencing wavs in live is appealling to me
plus it would be nice to sprinkle some vst goodness on my rm1x sounds

as a multitrack recorder live works good ,i have not recorded more than 18 tracks simultaneously but it's already enough .
to record the paterns of your rmx1 i think the best is to midi sync live to the rmx1 to record (the midi delay can be a problem on the first few bars ) .
then once they are recorded ,a bit of warping won't do bad in case there is sync problems .

yeah it's all about the warping i guess, have to get it "just right" somehow, hoping that that part won't be too much of a hastle..

the problem with midi sync is that the first few bars are always out of sync so it's always better to record after at least 4 bars after you press play if you want your loops to be tempo sync'd .
you can record them without midi sync but you will have to warp .

i find it easier to simply export the MIDI file from the RM1x to a disk, and load this into my sequencer. You can also use better sounds that way than the onboard RM1x sounds

you use a rm1x? yeah this is also another good idea that i will have to try

One more thing i've found (on the yamaha rs7000 which is not the same machine but similar) is if you are going to SYNC ableton via midi-clock, then try to send ONLY midi-clock to ABLETON and NOT all the note,program change,control change data etc... This stop ableton from going out of sync with your machine because it is not getting jammed up by un-needed midi data. I do this by sending clock on it's own out through my midi B port instead of everything out the A port. Hope this helps.
