I might not be the only guy who has thought of this but I couldn't find anything on here that talks about this subject in this way. 1 thing from Ableton that could be improved and take it to another level of creation is....(for live stage use ) An output stream from inside Ableton software too a hardware device via firewire or USB just like an audio device except this device connects to your stage lights. A light show that follows the beat of the music. I know they have devices that kinda do this by impulse but they suck and don't always follow correctly. This would be bulletproof. Ableton could stream it but now we need someone to build the Interface . Of course for those of you who don't need it wouldn't have to purchase the version that has it. I wonder how much more this would cost and what is the downside ? I wonder if it would suck up to much computer power from a laptop ?

ehm...

I think Hambone1 is doing some stuff that even goes past what you mentioned.
I don't know the details. But it has something to do with core image and arkaos.
He'll pop up soon ;)

hambone uses something that converts CCs to DMX, the type of messages most lights can receive.
