Popping sound on initial audio from any track...

Has anyone else noticed that you get a slight popping or clicking when a track hits its first piece of audio, after loading a new set?

It only seems to do it once -- like it's initializing the track or something. After that its fine and doesn't seem to do it again. In fact it doesn't seem to do it again even if I close Live and open it back up to the same set... :?

I use to think it was my system, but I have a new PC, audio interface, new version of Live, and even a new MIDI controller. But it still does it the very first time I use Live with an existing set after booting up my PC.

Is it just me?

i have the same problem.
Anytime i open live after initializing my pc, i hear pop and craks when playing every live set.

Did anyone know how to resolve this problem???

i have a M-audio mobile pre as sound card and i use m-audio asio drivers.....
This is a very big problem when performing live......

Cheers

Hi,

To me, it sounds like a sound card issue. Not sure though, but have you tryed increasing the buffer size to see if it pops anymore, or to use the onboard sound card if there is any, and see if it is the same ?
Hope you get it sorted out soon,

it can be.......
Cause if i use the on board sound card with mme drivers it doesn't pop or crack.......
But the question is: if i buy a sound card (120€) why i have to hear this pop and crack??

do you know if there's a preferred setting??

thanx

Mobil pre is USB right ? maybe a power issue is it is powered by the computer, like it powers of to save power, then on when you call it from Live. Do you have an option to power it with external adapter ?
Otherwise, does increasing the latency change anything ?
If it is the power thing, I think there is a power option for your USB port, in the hardware settings in control panel/system, where you can see what power is used on each USB port and wether windows should manage it to save energy. This option should be on "always on" (not sure about the exact terms since I'm in front of an old mac right now)
Hope that helps,

thanx a lot man.
i try to do this and so let you know how it works......
Mobile pre is only usb powered and it doesn't have an external power supply........
I cannot go up with latency cause i use the soudcard to play with guitar live too.

Thanx and cheers

Well, I went with your guy's suggestions and first tried the built-in audio interface. That worked fine. No little pops on the first piece of audio from each track.

I also tried adjusting the Firewire 410's buffer up to 512 (which I can't stand anyway), but it still didn't work. I even tried down-grading my Firewire 410's drivers -- still the same problem.

So I took it back. It may very well be my Dell's chipset or something to that effect. It wouldn't be the first time a sound card has acted weird on one motherboard but fine on another.

Guitar Center had a PreSonus Firebox (with a new lower price); it's the same price I paid for my 410, so I bought that. Seems to be working perfectly so far. I had to head back to work though...

I had this problem. I had to change my buffer size to 1024 Samples. 512 would result in a 'click' at the beginning of a track (my computer is old). I should probably ask this elsewhere, but shouldn't buffer sizes be powers of 2? I could probably get rid of the click with a buffer size < 600, but using non power of 2 sizes seems inefficient.

This still happens to me -- it's a little less frequent and not all the tracks do it now (using a PreSonus Firebox). But despite two different systems (Custom AMD and a Dell Intel), and three different audio interfaces (Aardvark LX6 Pro, M-Audio FW410, and PreSonus Firebox), I'm still having problems.

Though it *is* only a small problem. One that I can live with... I guess.

It just seems strange that it only does it once per boot-up. If it were resource or hardware related, wouldn't it do it all the time and every time I play the song? Besides, it's only 7 tracks; 1 of Impulse and 6 of Operator.
