copying clips to another track - same location

hi all,
still on Live 4, but i'm trying to move some tracks around in Arrangement Mode, and I want to be able to move a clip (or automation data) to another track and have it be in the exact same location.
often, my tracks are long, not warped, and i'm not working on a specific grid...I thought that holding down SHIFT or something during the move would hold it at the same place while i move it up or down to a new track. No go...
any suggestions?
