input midi-events filtering in Ableton - is it possible?

Hi folks,
I got a small problem with my Evolution midi-keyboard - pitch wheel sometimes generates random midi-events and I would like to filter them off. I can easy perform it within Cubase by internal midi-filter, but I cannot find something like that in Ableton...

moreover there are no ableton midi-plugins with filtering features... Can anybody help?
Thanks!

what platform are you on?
There are various apps that will filter messages.

I am on WinXP. Do you mean standalone apps? It's much better to have an Ableton midi-plugin and maybe it exists...

you can create one easily in synthedit , it prolly won't get recognised as midi plugin , but you can drop it on a miditrack as vsti plugin and route the midi output of the plugin to a new channel
or check bidule

The midi plugins are only capable of filtering out notes. So you need a standalone app.

bidule will do it easily. it would run alongside, but you would never have to do anything in it. you would route your board to plogue, filter out the PB, and send the midi to live via midi yoke.

Yes!!! Thanks for the good idea! Though I am more familiar in Reaktor and will try it first. But synthedit solution looks less expensive in sense of cpu and memory resources - should try it too...
Anyway, thanks to all, guys!

seems like prologue bidule would be the way to go. from what I know of it. if I ever spelled it right:)
I never got the demo to work for me actually cause it thinks I'm still using a demo of absynth and it quits everytime I start the demo of bidule. oh well. I don't have enough time to learn the program anyway. only enough time to spend leaving pointless messages on the ableton site.

Plogue is overkill for this. Why not just midiox. Midiox can filter and is free of charge.

Unfortunately both variants do not work: ableton doesn't allow insert any effect plugins before virtual instruments (maybe need trying complex routing between tracks?) and midiox locks all midi-ports and they aren't available in ableton after that.
So it seems like I should think about my midi-keyboard repair at last

yo.
This is why you use a virtual midi port like midi yoke !
Midi input->MidiOx (filtering)->Midi Yoke->Ableton Live.

No this shouldn't happen. Input ports should be available to both midiox and Live simultaneously.
Do make sure that no real output ports are enabled within Midiox though. Only give Midiox a virtual output to route its signal to.
I use Midiox to filter out 'all notes off' that my Roland D50 sends out everytime I take my hands off the keyboard. I route the filtered version through to Live via midiyoke. However, both my main real midi inputs are still available to Live.
But I agree there is something strange with the way midi VST plugins are handled by Live. I used to have a little all notes off VST plugin that worked well in Tracktion and Sonar. Live appears to register it as an instrument with an audio output.

thanks guys, I forgot about virtual midi-ports completely...
it actually should work!
