I want to do the folloing for live playing:

I have different vsti's on track 1 and 2 and several scenes.
when I launch scene 1 (via midi remote) I want automatically track 1 armed and when I change to scene 2 I want track 2 armed so I can play different sounds in relation to the scenes playing.

Is this possible?

you could arm both for recording and insert clips with volume set to zero on the channel that you don'y want to play.

yeah forgot about midi volume, at least a nice workaround.

backdraw may be that the two vsti's still processing sound at the same time and consuming (more) cpu...

you could create a midi channel which using a loop back midi (i.e. soundflower or midiyoke) would send on/off messages to the VSTi's you want to turn on and off.

do a search for 'dummy clips' on the forum to get you started.
