5.02: RAM usage on startup ... ??

ive started to watch resource usage with Live more lately after really getting fed up with the poor performance in arrange view (see "Severe LAG in arrange view POLL thread in this forum) ...
http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic. ... rrange+lag
... and getting random, bad, laggy, sticky horrible creativity killing, frustation inducing performance when working with large projects .. worse than vs 4.
just now i started Live 5.02 up to my default template.
- 5 MIDI channels ... no devices active
- 4 audio channels ... no devices active
- 4 sends .. no devices active
- master .. no devices active.
windows Taskman reports ~ 350+ MB out of a Gig of RAM usued ... with nothing active
is this why ive accepted that Live can take between 1 and 2 minutes to start up with no devices or activity in a default template
... then another 4 - 5 minutes to load any project with any real work done in it (read: track with more than a few minimal elements) ...
... then another 3 -4 minutes to shut down ... (i get a white interface and it just hangs on to my resources during that time till it feels like letting go)
anybody have any theories on this? XP SP2, m-audio drivers, gig of ram
oh: just for contrast, another hi-tech, resource intense program i run here and there on this machine is Age of Empires III: brand new state of the art big game, needs lots of power to run, uses all the crap in my machine to the fullest:
loads up lighting fast, plays fast, decent framerate, interface not dogged and sticky, and lets go of my system resources gracefully and quickly when i decided to stop playing
Live is the only thing on my machine that runs like a pig. what the hell is going on ..
