sync 2 macs via emi 6/2 midi clock

had it working for a few minutes, something happened, and we can't get it working again. tried everything we could think of. 2 macs, both using emi 6/2 interface, one audio/midi setup set to recieve, the other set to transmit, w/ the same setup in live's preferences, not working. done many tests w/ external devices to see if it's a hardware problem...not. we've switched who recieves and who transmits. transmitter always lights up midi out, reicer never gets the "s" to light up...??????help!!!!many hours of frustration!!!compensation for help will be provided!
