Routing multiple channels from interface into LIVE

I just purchased a FirePod and am running it into Live. The first problem I have is that I can only get either L or R on a channel @ a time unless I use both line 1 & 2. ---
the second problem is how to route ch. 1 from the interface into ch.1 on live ch. 2 from interface into ch.2 in live etc...
If anyone can explain this in clearest in simplest terms it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, new guy Pleasuremaker
