(not responding) is the norm

Guys, we all can agree that an update is needed at this point. However, have any of you been gettting the (not responding) message often? I get that sh*t almost everytime that I load L5. It's become a chore to get L5 up and running. I recently trashed the prefs (again) and it doesn't help. I'm now officially spending more time re-booting than making beats. 
Any ideas guys? What's could be the problem here? Thanks...
