Win Xp Home Sound problems.

Hi,
I have recently changed from Win 2000 pro to WinXP home, and ever since I have moved I am having sound problems with Live 5.
When I start Live up everything works fine, but after a while maybe 5 - 10 minutes I start to hear a break in the sound every so often. Then it becomes a regular break in sound and continues to happen until i shut down Ableton and start it back up again. When it starts up everything is fine again for a while. I a thinking that this is a RAM issue and I need to configure something I'm just not sure whether this is an Ableton setting or esle an Win XP setting.
The break in sound does not happen when I am playing back music normally i.e Windows media player.
