waveform is moving left and right when i zoom in and out?

I deleted my decoding cache by mistake and when i loaded my set back up all the tracks started decoding again, which was ok. but the warp markers are all about a half beat out.
whats even stranger is, when i look at the marker it looks like it on the beat. but when i zoom in the waveform shifts to the right half a beat and i have to move the marker. if i zoom back out the waveform shifts back to the left of the marker.
5.02 and new beta version acting the same.
wtf?

I cant use ablton at the moment because of this. all my tracks are all over the place.
If i look at the warp markers they look like they are on the beat but when i zoom in the waveform shifts and i have to move the warp markers.

Hi,
Do you hit the "save" button in the clip area when you've tweaked warp markers ?
Best,

hitting the save button makes no difference.
Its only happening in some clips. some are fine. Its still the same if i delete the clip and load it back in from the browser.
I've found if i delete the als file for the mp3 then load it back in its fine but this is the second time this has happened. and it seems pretty random.

This is for sure a bug in ableton. I had a nightmare of a time with the decoding cache.
I narrowed the problem down to dropping multiple mp3's into ableton at the same time. When you do this, ableton is a) bouncing the mp3 -> wav in your decoding cache and b) anylizing the waveform for peaks to build that .asd file.
Apparently this is too much for Ableton.
It seems to work fine if you drop in 1 mp3 at a time for decomposition, but 2 or more and you get that bug.
ABLETON! TAKE NOTE!
SOLUTION: I have a good work around. First of all, the decoding cache concept is no good for me because I work with 2 computers and you can't transfer the cache to another computer. It just doesn't work. So I always bounce out my MP3's -> wav manually and work entirely with wavs in ableton. Winamp is a great program to bounce wav files with. You just drop a whole bunch of file in there and it'll spit them out perfectly. You can then drag and drop the whole lot of wavs into ableton and it'll decomp them properly. You get the added bonus of being able to transfer projects to other computers safely (except that you have to transfer huge wavs)

Hi Twigg,
What system are you working on ?
Cause I just, right now, did work with a lots of mp3s, I can drop 6 or 7 in Live, they get analysed, then I delete, drop others, I guess the cache is cleaning itself as it goes, and I had no problem at all, can play the first decoded file while the others still decode etc... I'm on win XP pro, spec in my sig.
Hope you get it sorted out.
Cheers,
amo

I'm on an XP pro system as well. 2.6ghz intel. 1 gig ram. The same problem exists on my 1.7ghz celeron laptop.
When I drop 6 mp3s in there, it decodes them correctly, and they seem to play back correctly except its the visual display of the waveform that doesn't match up with what I see. Often times I'll be missing the first bar of the track, or when I zoom in, there reaches a threshold zoom level where the waveform snaps to the left. Its impossible to accurately set beat markers.

twigg, thats exactly whats happenin here. zoomed out, i can see the whole track and the markers are in the right place. but when i zoom in the waveform jumps and the markers are out of place. sometimes the start of the track is cut off.
only difference is i didn't import more than 1 mp3 at a time. i had my set running fine, saved it shut down fine, next day, i had this problem. i've had to delete all the als files in my mp3 folders and then delete all the bad clips and re insert them and re warp them.... for the second time

So I´m also in for this problem with a lot of mp3´s from trackitdown, all 320 VBR. It seems that most of the bad files have a bit of silence at the start (some loaded as an empty file in Live), some run fine and have only a visual bug when zooming, but others are playing off sync. When I delete the clip, then delete the wav from the decoding cache and reimport the clip it´s seems fine, but when closing and reopening the set it gets randomly the same.
When I import the wav from the decoding cache (wich is exactly the same as for the played mp3 file) with it´s own new .asd created it´s fine.
I´m sitting here preparing my set for new year and Live is absolutely unusable with mp3´s for the moment, what a crap!
Yeah i can convert them to wav, (because removing silence from an mp3 without recoding it again afterwards is not possible) but it seems to be a bug of Live when the asd sits not in the same directory as it´s wav and not a bug of the quicktime decoder.
Hello Abletonians and all others out there, do you have noticed this already?
I could send you a set with an mp3 where it happens, but not sure if you can reproduce it then.
I´m on XP, 5.0.3 and have quicktime installed.
Hope you can have a look at this soon.
Greetings

Yeah...I noticed this one, too--two hours before my set on New Year's Eve

. Had to fix all the tracks by hand, which took about an hour. Thank goodness I thought to check the set before showtime...

Man, incredible!
Well my set was ok, there was one mp3 I purchased a time ago on beatport that was off sync wich I not played then, all wavs where ok.
What I did was saving as self contained to my internal hd before the set, Live redecoded the files again then to the same directory, that was perhaps my luck.
I´ve recorded the set in arrangement and reopened it yesterday to render 1st time unedited, and I thought I get crazy. All the mp3 and everything around like beatrepeat is out of sync, I fixed the set by moving the markers to their "right" places so that I can at least render the set. SAVED. Fine, started rendering, Live gives me an error message (A problem with my indigo seems it with different 41/48kHz settings for the card and the rendering) and has to be killed by the taskmanager.
Now reloaded the set via open recent docs (not recovery) , and Live starts to decode again. When I play the arrangement all my work has gone
Fix again, render and it sounds fine now, beside one clip wich I forgot to fix.
An other problem I see in arrangement is that a lot of startmarkers and loopbraces have moved to positions, especialy the startm. where I´ve never started something. The whole set and clips where 1 bar and global quantized, startmarkers are at 1/16th pos now.
I encounter very often slighly moved loopbraces for all sort of long wav´s and when they start to loop it gets worse with every cycle (was already there in the L5 beta phase, until now) FOD´s friends perhaps

.
Had to fix all the tracks by hand,
So you have moved all your markers off then to keep them in sync?
Have you recorded your set in arrangement? Could you check it?
Hello Alex, could you perhaps tell us something about this one before I convert all my mp3 to wavs?
Greetings
