Hello,

Has anyone used both Abelton and Phatmaik Pro? If so how do the size up just on the slicing and manipulation front. Also would you recommend getting Phatmatik if youve already got Albeton?

Just for future reference, could you define a message board geek? I would have thought that one would be the ones who are actively on the forum taking part (myself included). But now, I guess answering this post without answering your question makes me a message board geek instead of a normal person???

Anyhow, I can't comment on Phatmatik Pro, but I like the workflow of using Ableton and Acid Pro 5.0 (for slicing beats) in tandem.

As a chicken, who recently had my head chopped off, I am offended by the comment that forum geeks need not reply.

We "geeks" are people too and one day we will rise up and take over the world!!!!!!!!!

Breaka - I've used both. Phatmatik is very accurate, but I found that the small, blue interface was hard to see. I use Beat Creator to slice beats. It's very good. But, both Phatmatik and Beat Creator have easier workflow than using Live to slice.

been using phatmatik alot, it's great and simple and very cpu friendly. that and I've talked to the company a little and they are really very easy to work with and really quick to responde which is always a plus.

i dont think its a ONE OR THE OTHER type of situation. i use phatmatik pro to slice up vocals from movies or tv or ones ive recorded. it works fast , and sounds kool. i wouldnt hesitate in recommending you own both. i dont use live to 'slice'

Thanks for that. On another note, how stable is it? Have you had any crash problems? And if your using it on a mac is it best used as a vst with live or as an audio unit with logic?

i would say as a VST with live.....more fun. but its a simple program , i dont see it working any better in either host , other than the simplicity and tactility live has to offer.

you slice up whatever wav you want to work with , and you can assign each piece to a different key on your keyboard...and mash up and mess with the wav as much as you want....try messing with an appregiator (live5) for some random madness.

i've had absolutely no problems with it.

Just playing with the demo. Yeah absolutly love it, definatly gonna get me one of these.
