Sustain Pedal input flaky

Record a Midi region (preferably with piano sound) using sustain pedal while playing notes and chords. After a few bars, you'll get a dropped sustain pedal event... Even though you pressed down on the sustain pedal, Live misses it. I've had this happen 3-4 times during a 32 bar take. This occurs in 5.0.2 and in the latest beta 5.0.3 b5. This happens on multiple systems with direct USB midi controllers, and regular MIDI controllers thru a Unitor MIDI interface.
I'm on OSX 10.4.3

I've experienced a different issue with sustain pedal (which I mostly use for piano): while playing and recording sometimes notes lose their sustain (I guess especially when there are simultaneous events).
Looking at the recorded clip I can see that the controller 64 (= sustain) in those points isn't recorded at all, instead Live records a different controller (sometimes program change).
WOW!
I'd better mail support...

yes, this is partly what I'm talking about.... except for me I don't see program changes or other controller data, just the absence of the sustain event.

I wrote to Ableton support and they are trying to reproduce my issue.

Hello. I just wanted to remind you of a way to increase the stability of your midi interfaces, if they're running over USB, go into the control panel, system, device manager, and turn of the power saving mode of the usb hubs.
Apparently some people have had dropped notes, dropped note-offs (yikes) and such things because of windows doing flaky power management of their midi interface.

thanks for the advice but that's not my case: I use my M-Audio firewire interface for both audio and midi, I disabled every power management and I use the power management profile "Always on" to improve (a lot!) the performance.
