stuttering clips when first launched

In Live 2.03, on my iBook 500MHz using Sound Manager, very often when I first switch to a clip, the clip stutters -- drops out for a brief moment. This is not because of bad warp makers or anything, because after one loop around, the stuttering is gone. It only happens when the clip is first launched.

Does anyone know what the cause and solutions might be?

Have had this as well, especially [or only] on [very] long files .. I think this has to do with the .asd files that needs to be created ... [AThlon 1Ghz on win2000]

i haven't noticed this with single clips, but i've had similar stuttering if i open up a session from the session file instead of through live. it'll give me dropouts and distortion for a while, then playback fine, but i usually need to restart playback. it's almost like live needs to catch up with itself or something. i don't know if this is related or not.
