hello all
i am having a distortion issue when recording (as i am very new to using ableton)... i have various samples sequenced in ableton i just want to record 8 bars of this loop
while playing it in ableton it sounds great but when i record to a wav file and i goto listen to the wav file there is HUGE distortion... so much distortion i can't even hear much else but incredibly loud static
please help

Elaborate on what you're doing...
Are you getting distortion when you render to disc?

sorry... heres what im doing
1) i have a kick sample, a drum loop and a synth producing an 8 bar loop
and while playing together in ableton sound really good
2) i then pressed "ctrl + t" to insert a new audio track
3) i clicked the record button within the new audio track
4) in the "audio from" field i selected "resampling"
5) i then clicked the circle in one of the "clip slots" within the new audio track with quantization set to 4 and it started recording on the next appropriate downbeat
6) after recording the loop i went to the actual wav file it created and loaded it up in winamp.... then i experienced the horrible distortion
*usually when i do this... it sounds fine
*keep in mind the kick drum i used was from produced in fruity loops and was exported as a wav file.... but that shouldn't matter should it?
i hope that is a little more clear, i didn't mean to be so vague last time .... thanks

ok i figured out why the recordings sounded so bad
in the "Defaults" tab within ableton's preferences under "audio recording"
the bit depth was set at 32.... when i set it at 16 everything sounded great after that
im not sure why it was at 32 nor do i really know why that caused the problem but either way.... problem solved
