Hello guys. I dont know much about audio and i think i've been getting some misinformation so i'd like to clear it up here if possible. I have a soundblaster live value card that came with my computer. When using live it hiccups alot and sometimes it will hiss and do all sorts of funky things when first pressing play.

I was goign to buy a new delta 1010LT mainly to correct this problem of audio playback ,but someone told me that a new audio card wouldn't help this and someone else told me it would. Which is true.

Another thing im wondering about is the CPU meter. I heard if a better sound card is equipped it would drop drastically. Is this also true?

I dont really care about latency. All i will ever use is vsti's

A soundblaster should give you decent audio. Try the www.asio4all.com drivers.

Might even reduce your CPU load.

Yes stay away from soundblasters that was the first soundcard I ever bought when getting into music and nothing but problems.

it all depends how much you can afford try and spend as much as you can its worth it in the long run!

Try the asio4all drivers. A new sound card won't improve your cpu load beyond what a sound blaster with those drivers can give you, not by any substantial amount.

Also, try the Live 5 performance test (search for the thread). That will benchmark your computer against a large number of other configurations.
