Looping a portion of the clip, not from it's beginning?

I've been looking in the manuals, tips and seraching on the forum. I know this has been asked before . . . OK, once again I'm seeking the easy way out. I'm tired and am not thinking clearly. Is there a way to get a clip, for examples sake, a 25 bar clip, to start on 1, then loop back to bar 9? I suppose i can do this with Follow Actions, but I was wondering whether there were a way other than that. I thought I could set up various markers. A start marker and then another begin loop and an end loop??

Assuming you have newer version of Live

Set the In to 1, then move the Loop Start to 9 with length 16. You have to enable Warp to be able to Loop. (If you don't actually want to warp, just set the clip's bpm to the project's bpm and use the re-pitch warp method.)

Or am I missing something? (I could swear that in my older v3 of Live you could not move the In BEFORE the Loop Start like that, but it certainly works in v5, which I just upgraded to.)

Thanks. Well you know. I'm not getting something, because I can't figure out how to get the clip to start on 1 but the loop to start looping on bar 9. When I set the loop start to 9 the clip starts at 9 too.

in Live5 you could just assign a button to the "loop IN" and when it reaches bar 9, hit it and then the next looping period will start from bar 9.

in L4, you can set up a channel to record the output of the channel your clip is in, and hit the record clip on the newly created channel at bar 9 and deactivate it where the loop should end.

Follow Actions should do it

To make this work in Live 4 I think I need to use "follow actions." I'm going to try it now, but I'm prety sure it should work.
