I know i should sample in mono...to avoid frequency/panning problems with other samples...and adding stereo fx in a second moment (and i do this for single hits, bass etc.BUT, if i sample a good drum beat in mono is gonna loose all its flavour...so what do you guys do?

I record loops in stereo, and hits in mono most of the time. I just keep an eye on the stereo field of the drum loops in relation to the rest of the material in the mix, making sure everything is balanced. Unless I'm going all whacked out with the drums

it depends what music you make.i would say mono, bass and drums for club\dance music,is a must if u r gonna get your tunes pressed to vinyl.

When I sample I always use stereo. With Live's utility plug it's easy to mix to mono or choose which channel you want later..
