When triggering the play button on the transport control via midi, there is a fair amount of slop (inaccurate and inconsistent timimg), at least with my ibook 500mHz, OS 9.2.2. (The timing triggering clips directly is fine.)

My midi transport control works with no delay whatsoever..
using a pc pen 4 1.6 gig processor with 1 gig of ram
also kicking on an
866G4 with 512 ram
trigerring with oxygen 8
check your ram..check your midi cable even if it is new,...
I have had some nice results by simply changing the cables with problems like this..
Be sure to THROW OUT the bad or suspected cable!!
I know first hand how bad things can get with a bad cable.
