transpose jitter

Hello,

I seem to have a problem in Live 5.0.3 with the transpose knob
jittering in the clip window between -0 st & 1 st, as though it has
been automated. It seems to be stuck like this ... every clip is doing
the same thing .. and oddly, when I opened Reason 3, I had the same
happen with the pitch wheel in the sampler. I have a 1GHz PowerBook
G4 with 1 GB RAM - OSX 10.3.9. I have been using Live 5 for several
weeks with no serious issues until now.

any ideas?

Hi Penelope Peanut,

I'm not sure if I understand you right. You cannot set the transpose knob in the Sample display to 0, only to -1 or +1?

Do you have a MIDI controller hooked up to your PowerBook? I recently noticed one of my Reason devices had the pitch wheel jittering around, and it turns out my MIDI controller has a flaky pitch stick, which was sending very small MIDI signals even when it was sitting idle. I tapped on the pitch stick and the problem went away. I haven't seen this in Live, but I haven't looked for it there, either.

Ah ... okay, this makes sense. I do have a midi controller .. an Oxygen 8.
(and Alex, to clarify, the transpose knob is twitching on it's own ... even if
I have never assigned it to the midi controller or adjusted the virtual knob
with the mouse, it just flickers back and forth) It sounds like pbajzek may
be on the right track about the faulty pitch wheel in my midi controller. I
will see what happens if I run Live without the controller.

thanks
