using N.I. Guitar Rig with Ableton 5

Hi, i'm new to all this....i've recently bought ableton 5 and N.I. Guitar Rig...but i have no clue how to use Guitar Rig with ableton....it is installed as a VST plug-in but when i drag it onto an audio track i can't seem to get a signal...then my pc starts to experience a seizure and then i'm informed that a serious error has ocurred....is there anyone out there that is using both these programs that knows what to do....i'd appreciate any input...thanks
