how to NOT record automation?

Post by kettensaege » Sun Jan 01, 2006 11:24 pm

hi there,
I set up a few tracks runnning midi into Reason and tweaked automation of the audio track until all was good and my CPU maxed out. Then I wanted to bounce the tracks to free up CPU and continue working. The target tracks for the recording were the Reason return tracks containing the automation. Live records audio just fine, but also overwrites my automation curves with constant values.
Is there a way to suppress that behaviour? Currently, I record the audio on an intermediate audio track and then move the sample on the original audio track with the automation.
Also, dear Abletons, can we please have a Rewire instrument thats easily freezable? Bouncing the Reason tracks feels unnecessarily awkward. Thanks!
Apart from that, Live 5 rocks. Updated a few days ago and freeze is a big help.

Hi,

I haven't tried it, but reading your post made that idea pop in my mind: Have you tried disabling the big red button "overdub" ?
Best,

I did try switching off overdub but it didn't help. iirc overdub only affects recording of MIDI data.
[edited for clarity :)]
