1) I import an MP3 then go into the audio clip view. It's a 5 minute mp3 and I want to go right to about 2:30 and create a loop that's about 5 seconds long. I want to create the loop WITHOUT going and finding all the existing loop markers and stop/end points and dragging them. There must be a key combination that enables me to set the start / end and loop points without going all the way to the end and dragging them back, etc.

2) In the Session view, I'm playing a clip that I want to play ONCE EVERY 4 BARS, not every single bar. What's the best way to accomplish this?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

thinks to self : I must not mention reading the manual, I will not mention the manual.

OK here's how you do this
  1. start the clip halfway through by clicking in the lower half of the waveform
  2. listen to clip intil you hear where you want the loop to start
  3. click loop position 'set start' button (under the big 'loop' button), or midi key/key assigned to set start
  4. wait until you hear where the loop needs to end
  5. click loop position 'set end' button, or midi key/key assigned to set end
easy

2: Look into clip envelopes - volume specifically. Unlike, draw a four-bar envelope that's at zero for the first three, and at full for the last bar.

Thank you!

p.s. I've spent hours in the manual and on tutorials - sometimes it's very difficult to find exactly what you're looking for.
