Hi all. This is my first post here. I am new in using ableton and i have one question.
What exactly are the settings to record and then export an audio file with some effects. I am mainly using audio stuff from my hard disc and then i am working on it.
Although it works perfect in real time i cannot listen to it exactly as i recorded afterwards. For example when i want a resonator effect to start playing in some specific moment and i turn it on, i cannot listen to it at all when i am listening to it as a wav file. I suppose all i need are some suggestions to set up the mixer and in and out. But also what should i do if i want to turn on one effect at 2:23 for example and it doesn't react at all to the result? If that helps i use a macintosh and the session view.

it seems ur suffering from a case of RTFM.

Live has to be one of the easiest audio programs to learn and use / even if it is quite different. It comes with a handy bunch of tutorials which you can find in the help menu. You might have noticed them the first time u launched Live!

If not then read through these (or the PDF manual!) and look for topics such as "using automation" and "rendering effects"...

sorry if this seems a bit blunt / patronising, but i sincerely think u will learn better if u find out for yourself!

thank you very much. I have already read the manual and it seems to work now but i dont know whats going to happen if i ll use some more audio channels. anyways thank for the reply.

I dont really get wot ur problem is, but i will try to shed som light.

1. create 2 audio trax
2. put ur clean WAV/AIFF in one trak with FX u want use
3. select ur other trak and go to the audio input tab (here select the output of ur other trak with AIFF/WAV clip and FX) - this should configure live to send the audio post-FX into this track.
4. next u probably want to turn off monitoring on the track u will be recording to (so that u dont get 2 channels playing the same thing into the master ouput), then enable record.
5. launch AIFF/WAV clips in trak 1, and press record in the clip u want to record to in trak 2. then play around with FX on trak 1 as ur recording...

the result should be a clip in track 2 with the FX realtime changes...
