I posted this in the "bugs and problems" section but no replies yet....anyone having a similar problem or know what im doing wrong?

Very annoying problem here. Lets say I am playing a clip in Live that uses many effects. To save CPU, I re-record the clip in Live. The clip is automatically named "4-5 Audio" or whatever. The clip then appears in the sounds folder. I go to the sounds folder and rename the clip "Drum Attack" or some such thing. If I try and drag that same renamed clip back into the set, instead of showing the name "Drum Attack" in the Live set I am working in it is named "4-5 Audio" again. I have also tried to go into the sounds folder in the OSX finder and rename it but it still does the same thing.
What am I doing wrong??

I love you guys.

cut/paste the clip over to arrange view

rename the clip exactly what you want the file to be called

CTRL J to consolidate

move the clip back to session

the new clip appears in your sounds folder with the new name
.

BTW...I have never been able to rename clips...I have been using Live since Live 2. Is it an issue with G3 processors maybe? It is very frustrating.

I was impressed to check that a newly recorded audio file could be renamed in the Live browser, even when it is still used by the set (but audio stops).
The clip changes it's reference to the new filename but the clip does not change it's "name".
OK so far.
BUT: Dragging in the renamed file into a clip slot namnes the new clip to the same as the old (like 1 3-Audio). That will still be the case when starting a new Live set and dragging in the file - the clip will be given the old name.
Renamning the clip is no big problem but the reason for this behaviuor is that the "old" name is still stored in the analysis file for the sound file. Deleting the asd will reset the name reference to the new one.

I would think that doing an analyse audio on the folder where the renamned file is should redo the analysis, but that I can't see in this case.
