well, horrible problems all round..

live 5.0.1 is relatively stable on me (so i don't wanna have to upgrade to 5.0.3 just yet!) but i have spoken to 5.0.3 users who have the same problems. here it is:

1. adjusting the track delay compensation for vsti's and other internal tracks works just fine, however, audio tracks from motu's ASIO inputs do not respond to any adjustments of track delay.

2. my MIDI clock is completely out of sync. tempo is right, but the first beat judders and everything is left about 20ms behind. ok, so i can adjust track delay on the midi out tracks to kludge the incoming audio from MIDI synths back into time, but since i can't adjust the incoming AUDIO track's latency, arpeggiators and such (not to mention my beloved tb303) are all hopelessly delayed.

3. overall latency in audio dialog doesn't bloody change anything. same for MIDI clock latency compensation in MIDI dialog. the sliders just don't do jack!


please don't suggest "try increasing your audio buffer" or anything obvious like that, I know what I'm doing. AAAAARRRRGH!!!!! even $50 ReNoise can handle MIDI clock and ASIO, why not $500 live?!?!?!?!?!???



the system:

athlon 64 x2 4400
2GB corsair twinx 3500ll pro
asus a8n32-sli deluxe
(you know it's fast enough to deal with anything!)
motu 24i/o (running at 24/96KHz with buffer of 256 (2ms latency))
motu midi express 128 usb

so far as I understand your setup is like this:
You use Live as MIDI clock master to external MIDI equipment like drummachines, basslines,... and also use external MIDI synths.

The overal latency is only used for recording compensation in audio track with monitoring "Off" and is not affected by any latency compensation setting.
But the delay offset value for the corresponding MIDI-Out port should be the right way. Unfrotunately Live 5.0.1 has a bug concerning the sync delay for MIDI outputs so I would would really recommend to use Live 5.0.3.

At least you could give it a try and check if the delay offset value makes a difference there.
