Hi Jamie T,
firstly, to which Live do you refer and on which computer and operating system do you use Live?
does this Live set contains any third-party plug-ins? If yes, does it makes a difference when you temporarily remove these plug-ins?

/Alex

hey, I had this exact problem not long ago. Try saving the set as self contained in the file menu. That worked for me. I think it had a problem with referencing the audio files... hope this works.
if it's anything like my situation, the bounce will sound ok, but a crash just occurs at the end.

Hi guys…
I'm running version 4 (latest before 5) on OS X Panther on a G5 1 gig of Ram…I only had four tracks and only one of the tracks had effects on them…I tried freezing the track with effects and it worked fine but i still dont see this as a solution…or is it?
Thanks for your help on this

I have this exact problem, the preparing audio to render freezes at 99%
I thought I had it solved by deleting all the clips in the session view but it only solved in once and now any new arrangements cannot be rendered, which has put a stop tp me finishing any work!
Would re installing Live5 off the cd and then downloading the 5.0.3 update be a viable solution?
thanks

Hi folks,
if you have the problem that you rendering a certain Live set
does not finish and resulting Live freezed please follow the procedure described below.
To do this you will need the Live 5.2b6 version. It does not
work with previous beta version nor with a final Live 5 version.
If you do not have installed Live 5.2b6 please go to
www.ableton.com/beta to download it.
1)
Get sure you have Live 5.2b6 started once so that it has creates its preferences folder.
2)
Get sure that Live 5.2b6 is not running
3)
Locate the preferences folder for Live 5.2b6
Win: "C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Ableton\Live 5.2b6\Preferences"
Mac: "/Users/USERNAME/Library/Preferences/Ableton/Live 5.2b6"
You should find Live's preferences ("Preferences.cfg") and log ("Log.txt") file there
4)
Create a text file called "Options.txt" in this folder and add the following line to it: "-_LogRender" (without the quotes)
5)
Start Live 5.2b6, open the certain Live set and render it.
If Live the Render does not seem to progress wait 1 minute before
you force quit or kill Live.
6)
If you got this "Render freeze" problem, locate again the preferences folder from Point 3 and send me the contain Log.txt file by email.
Do not forget to drop your forum name in the email.
thanks & regards,
/Alex

this happened to me once upon a time. i did some troubleshooting in the track and the culprit turned out to be the 'beat repeat' effect.. so i mixed that track to audio and deleted the original with the plug-in applied. voila.
good luck

i had same prob. i think the 99% then freeze occurs if u render to an external harddrive as it fills up..try rendering internally on your computer hdrive

I think a friend of mine has helped me stumble across a solution!!!
I always selected me range to render by clicked and dragging from right to left, resulting in the section being orange and then it would go through two processes, preparing to render audio and then rendering audio to disk.
It was stalling at the end of the first process at 99% but a friend of mine who has just got into Ableton was looking at my computer and he selected the area using the Loop envelope and then clicking on it so the top bar turns black and the following the render procedur as before and BINGO!! it renders no problem, strangley though it only goes througth the second process 'rendering audio to disk'
I don't know if this rendering process is any different but it works!!!
Happy days!

has this been fixed for the new beta? 5.2?
sure seems like a bug.
i have this problem when just rendering a simple midi loop, no effects, when rendering a simple audio track etc................(even with normalise and analysis files turned off)
i dont have internet so am waiting for 5.2 proper before going through the pain of downloading.
ableton???
