hardware, midi connections for live & Behringer bcr-2000

I have a computer, external sound card, just purchased behringer bcr-2000 and an oxygen 8 controller. Do i hook up the behringer to the computer via usb or do i hook it up to the external soundcard using midi? What do my selections need to be in the midi preferences of live? Just going crazy over here, wasted hours with this shit!!! 
Any help will GREATLY be appreciated. For some reason my behringer does not want to read (in midi learn) my movements on my minimonsta on live. Right now i have the oxygen 8 hooked up to the behringer which is hooked up to the computer (not the soundcard) via USB. Maybe I need to switch that around somehow. Anyway, no more rambling, please help....
