help?

hello, i am starting to feel at a lose. live 5.0.1 was the second software(after reason3) i installed on a new pb 1.67 1gig ram 7200 rpm. hurray for me,right?,i got a new computer. i am new to computers, but not to recording. with an ozonic that works fine with garageband, i am getting snap, crackle. my pre gain isn't to high, i've changed latency setings,buffer size, tried designating clips to ram.happens with a mic or guitar. reason records fine rewired. recorded mic and/ or guitar without reason on and same problem. so, as much as i would love to use this program,(i even ordered a couple books so as not to be the total noob), after doing the searches, there doesn't seem to be a fix. i have considered installing the live lite 4 that came with the ozonic, but i am completly terrified of freakin out my mac. so would it be alright to just let live 5 reside in my harddrive while i PURCHASE and install another app.? think maybe tracktion?simplicity, stability, anyone? i don't know, i do know i willing trade my time for what i love and live is getting in the way of that. my rant,rand
