sidechain eq?

a sidechain compressor reduces the volume of the track, where the sc-comp is placed, when it recieves audio input from another source as an indicator.
is there somthing that reduces user selected frequencys in the same way?

lets say i have a fat reece bass with hi tones in a track, where allso the plugin that i desire is located. the signal that controlls the action, the plug shall do is a fat bassdrum without any hi freqs.
when the bassdrum hits, only the frequencys of the bassdrum are subtracted from the reece bass. this way you could achieve very fat stuff i think.

how can i do this?
is there a plugin for me?

if not you can buy the copyright of my invention for a very low amount :-)

just use a multiband compressor for the bass/kick sounds, do it like submix style. comp II built into live can do a sort of funky multiband compression. i personly use endorphine vst for that kind of thing alot, or any of the other neat compressors on www.digitalfishphones.com they are free too.

[edit] ie: compress the low freq's (start at like 300hz and below, adjust to sound) while not compressing the highs much

You mean the autofilter, EQ3, EQ4, and Filter Delay?

whoa whoa whoa.

this is exactly what comp II is for.

It has a sidechain eq.

so put compII on a track.

turn on sidechain eq and set eq to low pass.

now turn sidechain eq to a negative value.

ahha! now compII affects low freqs more than high freqs.

uhhm, but everything is compressed when the bass freq hits, not just the bass freqs.

sound hack makes dynamics effects that are frequency specific. maybe you should check them out.

How did sidechain eq not make it into A9. I guess I could build a max thing that does it?

You can use Live's "multiband dynamics" audio effect.
With m4l you can also use the envelope follower assigned to the gain of your eq band.

You can cut "only bass frequencies" from compressor.
* open sidechain area. Do not choose sidechain, choose eq.
* activate "blue headphones" and lo cut
* adjust the frequency you want to cut
Now its only compressing below the selected frequency range, not all.

I prefer wawes c4 for this purpose, you can try demo here.
