Hi Folks

I am playing tonight (5 hrs from now) and am planning on using an external MIDI keyboard with the clips in gate mode so I can stop and start the clips by holding down the keys on the keyboard... I wanted to add a sustain pedal so that I could keep a couple of clips playing while twiddling knobs with both hands. I though a sustain pedal (cc 64) would do the job but it doesn't. How do I map a sustain pedal? Any quick advice greatly appreciated!

Well, I just talked with M-audio in the USA about it and the person there said "one can't use a sustain pedal" Live 5 in the clip session mode. I can't imagine that others haven't requested this... huh... seems strange that there is no sort of global volume/sustain settings...still awaiting knowledgeable user's reponse to be noobie question.

Thanks

John

Does the midi from that kind of pedal come thru? this sounds a bit like a commercial. :) but...

When I'm messing with MIDI things that I'm not sure will get to where I need, I reach for Plogue Bidule. http://www.plogue.com

The midi monitor on plogue will let me know what's coming in thru whatever MIDI input I have available, and allows me to route that flexibly.

also, look on http://kvraudio.com for midi monitoring plugins/tools that will let you know if that CC you think you can use is actually getting into your box.

Thanks for the idea... yes, I used a Max patch I made that monitors MIDI in. It's comin' into the computer. There really isn't anywhere on the MIDI map in Live to place a sustain controller... odd.
