Theres been a few posts regarding this issue but haven't got to the bottom of it, plus i'm a bit of a newbie / punter to the ableton malarky!!

Basically I have the que and master working ok, (with master playing and que track mixing in as control moves L>R)

but what I want to do is on (B) on headphone que swich be able to listen to the selected track to que on its own and not mixed in with the master which is currently on (A). so i can set any effects clearly without hearing the master. any suggestions?

Another problem I find is that after a few minutes the toggle switch doesn't work and just stays locked on A or B, is this a commen fault? And the volume control and headphone volume doesn't work.

I'm using a Tower PC system with 6pin Firewire, I hope to sort a laptop to play out, do I need to change my firewire port? I've only just bought the Audiophile so have chance to return it. Are there any other similar sound cards that are similar in performance and price and suit a DJ setup

Any feedback would be most appreciated.

It's a major problem that alot of users have experieced and M-Audio has continually ignored. I am actually thinking of gathering a bunch of users together and filing a class action lawsuit. I think if I get the word out I will easily be able to find enough users who have had the same issues. I will say though, that I have recently switched to the M-Audio Fast Track Pro and have had nothing but satisfaction using that. The cue button and controls seems to be more of a hardware design plus the card is USB 2.0. However it only has 4 outs where the audiophile had 6. From what I can gather it seems that the problem is mainly firewire related but it's definately M-Audio and not your software because the problem is consistent with M-Audio's Firewire products and a number of audio applications.

I have the same probs the firewire audiophile sucks!!!!! what a waste of £160.00... first one i got didnt work at all, took it back replaced it now ive got all of the above, master control doesnt work, switch doesnt work and i might be the only one but i dont think the sound quality is all that either i used to use a sh**ty terratec dmx thingy and that was better!!!

I think the freezing of the cue button is something you will have to learn to live with - sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. You can of course change it using the m-audio control panel for the device.
I would suggest having that open behind your ableton so you can quickly refer to it.

Soloing the track without hearing it mixed with the main out can be done.
Make sure in your output tab in control panel you are only routing the cue channel to the output - i suspect you are routing both 1/2 and 3/4 to whatever output pair you are cueing on.

The other option is to create a send track to use as your cue track - just switch off monitoring and away you go!

I've got the same problems.The reason is your firewire port, which is not able to give all the power to the soundcard.
You should update your drivers on the M-Audio homepage.

Believe me I already tried that. I have the newest drivers and I tried leaving the control panel window open in the backgroun. Absolutely nothing was improved. The Cue button still froze along with random audio dropouts. It definately is a problem with the firewire drivers working with the PC's 4 pin port system. Reguardless it's M-Audio's problem to fix not mine.

great - this is exactly the problem i'm having my Sheffield friend - have you got it sorted yet???? please give me some good news

I had the same problem with my desktop - tried the newest drivers and a couple of older ones etc. Even called M-Audio tech support - they said "they were aware of a few rare instances of the problem, but had no resolution".

The issue didn't occur when plugged into my laptop however, so logic suggested I try an alternative PCI FireWire card in my desktop to the current VIA based card.

Success! The NEC based PCI FireWire card seems a lot happier and 4 hours later, hasn't locked up the FireWire AudioPhile panel controls with the latest drivers (5.10.0.5036).

This could be either a problem with the VIA VT6306 PCI controller chip and my motherboard (Intel 865GBF), or a wider issue with VIA and the FireWire AudioPhile, who knows...

My advice would be to try an alternative FireWire PCI card that uses a different controller chip to your current one to see if that works for you. The NEC based one I found on eBay was about US$10.

I also recommend you put the replacement PCI FireWire card in a different slot if you are replacing an existing PCI FireWire card (otherwise the system may think there has been no hardware changes).

The M-Audio firewire cards must be connected to the included motherboard
firewire slot

not a PCI extention
and dont connect an external drive using Firewire

And All Will be OK

it is more a windows and intel bug than m-audio or ableton bug

So that's why the no solution and no respons about it
