Sound -> Utility (Phz-R) -> SEND -> Reverb= No rev?

Hi!

I just did one small track with one Operator and one drumtrack. Set up one reverb on one of the sends and put one Utility after the operator to invert the right channel phase. Turned up the reverb send and ther was no sound from the reverb.

I tried digging some more to find where the fault was. As soon as I turned off the Utility plugin the reverb was there.

I tried putting one Utility in the reverb send (before the reverb) and when i inverted the right channel back again (with that new utility), the reverb was there.

Did a search on the forums here and found this:
http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23337

I am not an engineer, so I can't tell if this is the way reverbs always works, but judging by that previous bugreport (the link above) it's something wrong with the reverb.

Are there any updates on this?

So... After me bugging the Support Department (sorry Dom!) with a lot of questions regarding this question it comes down to this (and this is what my non-engineer brain understands):
The reverb input signals are added and then treated.
Since both channels are identical from source and then one channel is phase inverted (as described above) the resulting signal will be zero. Thus leaving no sound to be reverberated.

No no.. the phase is not inverted by default. It was ME that had one Utility plugin running and in that plugin I had the phase inverted on one of the channels.

The Ableton reverb works as it is programmed to work. If you want to invert the phase (on a mono signal, as the one I used) prior to adding reverb you simply have to invert the phase back again in the send channel (before the reverb) or use another reverb that works in a different way.

Ariesverb is a free reverb plugin for Windows (and it makes sounds, phase inverted or not :) ):

I have an issue that looks a bit like it, but much worse:

In some of my sets (the larger ones mostly) some of my reverb plugins suddenly stop sending wet signal.
So when I turn up the wet to 100% the audio is just muted totally. This is EXTREMELY frustrating and it prevents me from continuing my work, totally.

I suppose this is a bug, and I really need ableton to fix this asap.

does anyone else know anything about this ?
