Problems with automation/envelope

Hi there,
I have two questions I really can't understand.
1. what I can't understand is how to change a parameter in a vst in an audio clip. The envelope just doesn't do anything to the filter freq! (With every vst).
I really can't understand the problem, I can affect every parameter but not the VST ones! why?! (And everytime I open a vst envelope in a clip the value is fixed to the maxium even if in truth the value is 0!)
2. I try to do the same automation in the arrangement view and it works just fine! Anyway when I finish recording it and I move to another track the automation line becomes brown.. When it's brown it doesn't affect anymore the env sound... why?!
I really can't understand, in this way I really CAN'T automate the envelope of any sound..
Please answer my questions

i would think to get the automation line to turn from brown to red again you have to press the back to arrangement button. for example if you have a volume envelope in the arrangement, but then as it is playing you mess with the volume of that track the envelope will turn brown and not affect the sound until you press the back to arrangement button.

if you are trying to play the track in arrangement you can't fire clips that corrispond with that track from session.
your first ? lost me

I'm not using the session view at all!
I guess I have this problem because I have different clips with different programs on the same track...
Everytime a clip changes the program the arrangement button lights up!

sounds like maybe you've got some midi controller leaking data? try disabling all your remotes and then try to playback the arrangement.
Here is exactly what happens

I'm just using my powerbook and I don't have any controllers. The only input device active is the keyboard.
Anyway here what exactly happens:
I have a midi track with a vst synth instrument.
From bar 1 to 8 I have a midi clip playing notes with program 1 and I change the filter freq envelope from 0 to 100.
From bar 9 to 17 I have another midi clip playing diifferent notes with program 2 and I keep the filter to 100 (but I could even change it).
When I play it everything goes fine until bar 9, when the second clip starts. When it starts the "Back to arrangement" button goes on and the env become brown until I turn off the button..
Could you try it and see if happens to you too?
The only way to make it work is to put the second clip on another track but this sucks of my cpu..
Anyway this happen on ableton4.

Psicho,
I had the same problem, the automation envelopes turned brown.
Freezing and unfreezing the track helped.
