Trying to record Audio , but without any success.

Hello,
I have a demo version of Ableton (try before You buy), and from what I can see it is
brilliant!!! the only thing that I can't get working is recording Audio. As far as I know I
have done all the steps, but nothing!!T here is an input signal going in but I don't see any
action with the LED meters in the track I am trying to record into. My soundcard is a Pulsar by Creamware. I will outline all the steps I have taken:
For example in the arranger view, I choose for example to record on track 1. What I see on
the far right of the screen are TRACK 1 and four icons which from left to right are a) a
speaker icon (coloured green), b) an S button ,which I know is for solo and muting the other
tracks (it is grey or a light blue when enabled), c) a button that looks like a microphone,
which is for monitoring (grey in colour or white when enabled-perhps it has to be a
different colour to white when enabled???), d) finally a button with a black cicle in the
middle, which I know arms the track for recording(grey when disabled and white when
enabled-again perhaps it should be a different colour). Beside this is a tiny VU meter which
shows no activity even when I have enabled the track for recording.
In the OPTIONS/PREFERENCES section I have se up my DEVICE TYPE as ASIO and and my input and
output device type as Pulsar Scope. So everything there seems normal. In the BUS VIEW
chooser I can see a signal going in because the VU meters show it, though nothing for output
(maybe that is irrelevant).
I have armed the track for recording (though the button remains white in colour)and when I
am ready to roll the record button at the top of the screen goes red. But nothing!!!
Have I overlooked something simple?
In Options>Preferences>Audio I have chosen device type as ASIO, then device ASIO SCOPE, I
have enabled MONITOR THROUGH LIVE, then when I press on INPUT CONFIG I have enabled the
input through my Soundcard (the buttons are green). The input LED meter in the BUS INPUT
page shows a signal going in. But when I try to record the button still remains white and I
see no activity in the recording LED meter.
So I can't see where I am going wrong. Again, have I overlooked something obvious??? I can't
get it working. You must think I am a complete idiot or novice, but I can assure you that I
am not. I have managed to get Logic going (which many people say is complicated) to run
without any problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
