Ableton Forum

How do people. I`m thinking of getting ableton live and wondered if you can use it to mix with MP3`s. you know just say ten tracks mixed together and exported out. I do want to use for so much more as i`m a producer and from what i`ve read its a must have tool. (i use Cubase sx just now).
I thought the best people to ask about this would be on this forum as i guess your all the experts. I`ve heard of DJ`s using Ableton live `live` but just wondered if i could use it to mix MP3`s together. i normally do it on my 1210`s but then i allways run it thru Cubase to add an extra bit of spice,be cool if it could all be done in ableton.

Yep, mp3s and all kinds of formats. Download the Demo and give it a try. May find yourself producing in it as well. I used to use DP before I found Ableton.... I do not see any going back from here.

Yea i think i will, Does it work the same way as Cubase IE: audio tracks Horizontal with the cursor playing it all as it goes over it ? may sound a stupid question but i had a play with Reason and because i`ve allways been into Cubase i just did`nt get it at all.

There is a linear arrangement view or a view that sets Live appart called session view that works with clips as well. The demo has walk throughs that can line all this out. The Demo is fully functional except for saving.

in awnser to you it works both ways really you can use a traditional approoach working across the screen or you can jsut create groups of stuff and fire them off as scenes wiht the click of a button or a controller or anything.

Really is great i used to swear by cubase then i tried live not looked back!

When i first cubase a few (big producers) gave me a helping hand and i swore then that if anyone asked me out i`d help,and i have shown about 5 people how to get going,its great,like giving them a gift.So cheers for the help and as soon as i get Ableton i`ll be back asking alllllll about it !!!

I bet if you try the demo youd be surprised how easily you pick it up. Plus the tutorials built in are really great.
