GForce ImpOSCar problem

Hi Crew,
I just purchased ImpOSCar today, great sounds by the way, and I am trying it out with Ableton Live 5 as the host. Often when I stop the music the Imposcar will contiue to make sounds that resemble some kind of feedback. Midi feedback I guess. The sounds cease when I deactivate the Imposcars that are causing the feedback. What might cause this and how can I prevent it?
Specs:
AMD 2500+
Win XP Home
Ableton Live 5
Reason 3
Presonus Firepod
Amplitube1
Thanks,
Erik

Well, midi doesn't feed back itself. It’s data, not audio. So you are probably dealing with 1 or more of the following 3 things:
1. The midi note is "stuck"; meaning it's not getting the proper note "Off" message, so it just hangs. (I don't think this is it)
2. The Release on the Amp envelope is set to a high setting, meaning it won’t release the note, it just keeps holding it until the proper time passes. If it's set to full, it will play "indefinitely"
3. If you are using any effects with that instance of ImpOSCar (either the FX on the unit itself or ones you've added as inserts or sends), the effects settings you have are causing the signal to feedback on itself. I would say this is the most likely culprit, especially if you are using a delay via Send (or even the delay on the unit itself).
It could be something else, but check these 3 things first. Usually it’s one of those.

My Amp Env Release is set for 2 sec and the sound usually lasts indefinetly.
I'll check the delay, I'm using Imposcars on board delay for both instances. I'll do a couple more takes later and get back.
Imposcar sounds damn good though!
Thanks for the reply Memento Mori

no, not delay, still hangs after I press stop with all effects off.
I'm starting to think its option 1, not getting proper "off" message.

I've done more tests. Here is what I've found out.
If I press stop, at the mid point, of a midi note, in the midi editor it hangs.
If I press stop after the note has expired it does not hang.
Unfortunatly, I don't know what to do about it.

Any suggestions?

I loaded VB-1 *once*, the first note hung on forever and I had to close Live to stop it. Might be bad live behaviour with the vsti...

I've narrowed this problem down to Ableton Live v.5 and higher.
I've tried tests with Cubase LE as well as Ableton Live v.4.12 and there were no issues with hanging notes. ONly in version 5 did I get hanging notes, but only with Imposcar as well.
Man, Ableton has issues. I can't believe they would release something with so many issues. I've run into numerous bugs with version 5 but I was able to work around it without musch hassle but its starting to get out of hand.
It's been said and read on this forum before. "Looks like it's back to version4 for me."

Hmm? When i first installed Imposcar on my new laptop I had hanging (stuck) notes too, but with a reinstall of Imposcar it started working for me with LIVE 5.0.3.
If you have only just purchased Imposcar I'm sure you must have the one and only update- but do check to see if you do...If you haven't already try one reinstall of Imposcar for good measure. Sorry it's not working.. good luck ....

Thnaks for the reply... I've tried 1 reinstall but I'll try again. I'm wondering whether the folder locations might have something to do with it.

I really think it will be a host problem. The stuck note is most likely not that the vsti didn't respond to a note off. It is probably a section of previously generated audio repeating forever - out of control.
Maybe 5.2 will fix this? I'm holding off on external plugin instruments until then.

Yes, good idea, hold off on plugs.
I just tried the demo of imposcar and it does it too.
Too bad I had not noticed it when I was trying the demo....oh well...live and learn.
Imposcar does sound awesome when working though.

We have ImpOSCar on our Live PC at the store and I've messed with it a bunch in the past and I didn't have this issue. That machine has 5.0.2 on it I believe.
I'm doing phone sales now so I can't go check it out.
You'll get it worked out somehow. I dig the ImpOSCar. it's the cat's pajamas.
