I just bought Live5 and gave it a good run in. I'm glad I did. What a great program. Will be using FL to make loops to run in Live. Thank you Ableton!!!

Welcome then. I know what you're talking, i used FL years ago...Never regretted leaving it behind! I mean, FL is just nice to make loops/grooves, but it's automation sucks, not to mention that playing live with it is just impossible.

Welcome to Live 5. You won't regret it!

I used to use FL Studio 4 in the past, along with another host or two since. Since trying and buying Live 5, I haven't looked back. Live 5 is THE host for me.

I think FL's automation is worlds beyond Live. I have used it as a rewire client mostly for those capabilities - peak controller, formula, and the separate automation windows.

Well, it may have changed in newer version, but back in FL4 it was horrible, you had to chase around where were the automation parameters, make clips just for automation...horrible (again).

No, since v. 3 you could do custom shapes/phasing/etc. (like in the autopan effect but waaaaay more customisable) and use internal controls. And programing the automation as a "clip" made it another sort of modular component - one which requires the use of "dummy clips" in Live. Now I am really enjoying Live for it's strengths, but compared to FL automation is not one of them.

Live 5 currently sucks (you will get to know the bugs intimately). FL 6 was a nice upgrade, but for live use, it is just awful.

Depends on what you're using it for. Live 5 works perfectly for me, although I would like to see some more speed on the interface side.

Yeah, FLs formula and peak controllers are beyond the pale of cool. I've been yammering on about this in the Wish List forum for quite some time now. I really wish Live had these capabilities, along with an "ignore conflict" feature so you can map several controllable items to a single knob or button.

agreed -- Live is great for me but I use it for studio/arrangement work and hardly ever go into session

interface needs SPEEEEEEEEEEEEED

For some reason i don't think new users are gonna notice "bugs" so much as older users.. but that's just my opinion

I love live.........all software has problems.........

Interesting, maybe I should have investigated more at the time. As for making a "clip" of automation (for me at least) that sucked, i had to go chasing for those clips all around.

Anyway, I'm on Live now, and its sweet.

to me, FL and Live are the perfect combo. I've been gigging with FL Studio 4 (and now 5) rewired into Live 3 for years. The two applications compliment each other so well, it is great. And I must say, as stable as Live is (3.0.2 is perfect for all intents and purposes), FL is just as stable if not moreso. Live I us Live for making audio loops, and rewire FL in to make live beats in FL step sequencer. I rewire each type of drum sound out of FL on seperate rewire channels so that they come in on seperate tracks in Live, and can be seperately mixed and effected. Anyhow, the are both great programs, great at very different things (live with audio, FL with midi)--the two playing together are awesome. cheers.

Congrats... though you'll probably find uses for good old Fruity from time to time, so I wouldn't just blow it away and forget about it.

The combo is excellent. I love fruity's step sequencer for programming drum loops. I've had problems with it rewired though. I wonder If i'm the only one with those problems...
